What Causes People to Be Bullies

  Bullying amongst children:

Children who bully usually come from a disadvantaged background where they have developed low self-esteem and need to hide their inadequacies.  Growing up in a culture of bullying, whether from a home environment or school environment generates bullies.

When a child is first recognised as a bully, it is important to counsel the child to ascertain hidden problems.  Bullying is a warning bell telling parents and teachers that the child has major issues which need to be addressed and remedied before the bullying behaviour becomes entrenched and fellow students become adversely affected by the young bully.

Bullies do not always come from disadvantaged backgrounds.  Well-to-do families may have narcissistic children who grow up considering themselves special and entitled, demanding position, respect and obedience from others.  Their bullying is to force others into a role of subservience and obedience.  Never-the-less, narcissists are control freaks too.

By the time a bully reaches adulthood, their skills have already developed to control others and be a master deceiver and manipulator of people.

  Does Size Matter?

Yes, the short man syndrome is a sociopathic disorder where a short person compensates for shortness by being overly dominant and controlling i.e. bullying.  It often goes together with a history of being bullied and pushed around as a child.  When they attain a senior position as an adult, they take revenge on the world, with no empathy, no feelings or concern for the hurt and damage they cause to others by their bullying.  That is the nature of their revenge, after all the years of being a victim during childhood they relish the opportunity when it arrives, to cause havoc and hurt with absolutely no conscience.
